#runchat welcomes Injinji for 5/13

Injinji Toe SocksThis week a new sponsor comes to #runchat – Injinji. Injinji’s toe socks are my go-to sock for just about any occasion – short runs, long runs, hikes, work, around the house …

On its website, Injinji says its toesocks “are designed to enable the human foot – from the heel to the five toes – to function naturally and efficiently inside a shoe.”

As part of #runchat this week, Injinji will be giving away 3 pairs of socks. There are 3 simple ways to enter to win this contest:

  • Participate in Sunday’s #runchat. Join us at 8 p.m. ET Sunday for an hour-long session of Q&As about running. For full details on how to join, visit our FAQ page. To be entered, answer at least one of the questions during the hour.
  • “Like” Injinji on Facebook and leave a comment about #runchat. For example: “My toes are going to feel great on a run after I win a pair during #runchat on Twitter this weekend!”
  • Follow @Injini on Twitter and Tweet about this week’s #runchat and this post. You must leave the #runchat tag, tag Injinji, and link to this post. For example: “I can’t wait to win a pair of socks from @Injinji during #runchat on Sunday. http://bit.ly/injinjirunchat”

For the second and third option, please return to this post and let us know you have done this. Please include your Twitter handle in your comment.

As a bonus giveaway this week, will have a drawing for 2 #runchat stickers to anyone who is a subscriber to #runchat emails. Visit the front page of this site and fill out the information.

Winners of both giveaways will be announced in the final 5 minutes of Sunday’s #runchat.

Don’t forget about the May #runchat challenge to run somewhere new. Click here for details.

May #runchat challenge: Run somewhere new

Grab your running shoes and a camera … the next #runchat challenge is here.

Take a different route. Run a road you’ve never been on; run on a trail you’ve never explored; or run a race that’s new to you.

The next #runchat challenge is to push yourself to do something different at least once in May and take a picture of that road, or trail, or you during that new race, or you after that particular run.

This challenge is open throughout all of May with some great prizes – a Pearl iZUMi Fly In-R-Cool top/bottom combination, a #runchat Headsweats visor, and 3 #runchat stickers.

There are two ways to enter:

  • Following your run, post a picture of the new road or trail to your blog or Twitter. Return to this space and leave a comment on this post with a link to your blog entry or photo.
  • Post the photo #runchat’s Facebook page and return to this space letting us know you did so. To help us out with counting all the entries, please do not do both 1 and 2. Pick one or the other.

Comments must be posted by 11:59 p.m. ET May 31, 2012. Winners will be chosen at random after June 1.

Also at the end of the month, we will do random drawings for 3 additional #runchat stickers if you are on the #runchat email list. Get added to the list by filling out the form on the homepage. Regular #runchat newsletters will begin later this summer.

If you have previously done this, you do not need to subscribe again – anyone who has subscribed up to this point is entered to win.

About the prizes:

  • Pearl iZUMi describes its Fly In-R-Cool fabric technology as providing optimal moisture transfer with a superior hand feel; optimal skin cooling; flatlock seams; and reflective elements for low-light visibility.
  • Our #runchat visor is a white Headsweats visor with the #runchat logo.
  • #runchat stickers are making their way all around the country; you can check out more details about them here if you are also interesting in buying one.

Next #RunChat Sunday 4/22, Sponsored by GU

We are in full swing of Spring and are super excited for another session of #RunChat. We all love new launches and this week we welcome back GU as they launch  their recovery drink.

One winner this week will receive a GU Chocolate Smoothie Recovery Brew plus we will send a GU Sampler pack and a mix of other new goodies from GU.

About  GU Recovery Brew Drink: The premium quality ingredients in GU Recovery Brew help you quickly replenish energy stores and rebuild muscles after an intense workout. GU’s Recovery Brew reinvents the category and evolves this critical training tool into a nutritional experience we’re confident you’ll actually enjoy.

What’s in it?

  • Protein - GU Recovery Brew is chuck full of whey protein isolate for speedy recovery of muscule fibers
  • Amino Acids – Arginine and Glutamine promote recovery by mitigating the effects of intense training and supporting a strong immune system.
  • Carbohydrates - Both simple and complex carbs (and lots of ‘em!) in optimal balance will re-fuel your competitive fire and get you back to training and racing on schedule.
  • Antioxidants – Over 100% of daily allowances of vitamins C and E in every serving. Your free radicals will hate us!

How’s it different?

Quality ingredients is the cornerstone of any qaulity product and GU Recovery Brew relies on whey protein isolate — not cheaper whey protein concentrate — to create a higher quality and more effective product. Did we mention taste? Say goodbye to grainy, chalky, salty and smelly. GU’s Recovery Brew reinvents the category with a highly effective product that actually taste good.

How do I use it?

For optimal results, drink 16-24oz of GU Recovery Brew directly following training or racing.

There are four ways win the GU giveaway:

RangeRoller Pro

RangeRoller Pro 16"

The RangeRoller is a massage therapy tool, which provides an effective deep tissue massage. It is great for sore muscles, trigger points or problem areas, knots, increased blood flow before or after workouts, and post-race recovery. The product comes in three varying sizes mentioned above that alter in flexibility and functionality each size. The RangeRoller is also customizable, 12 different colors are available in any combo.

Personally, I’ve been using the RangeRoller Original for a couple of months now — it has provided some great post-long run relief to tired and tight muscles after long runs this winter as I trained for the Shamrock Half Marathon.

The RangeRoller is also very easy to pack into a suitcase without taking up extra space so you can take it with you on a business trip or a running getaway.

There are three simple ways to enter to win one of three RangeRollers.

  • Participate in #runchat at 8 p.m. ET Sunday, April 8. For full details on taking part in #runchat, please visit our FAQ page.
