Come together - virtually - for the #RunChat5k
We've been asked many times over the years to hold a virtual event, but for a wide variety of reasons, it hasn't come together.
But now, we're putting together something quickly and something amazingly simple for you to join in to come together virtually through a solo run.
As of this post being live, the first-ever #RunChat5k is on! There are no prizes or age group awards or a bib to put on - we just want to see you getting out there safely, showing off your scenes and selfies, and spreading the great things about the running community.
TO JOIN:
* Run a 5k route near you by March 31 (* this was originally a weekend-only event, but we'll continue to encourage people to join through the end of the month!)
* Tweet photos and/or post to Instagram using the hashtag #RunChat5k
* Your photos can be scenes along the way, selfies, a watch photo ... anything (although there are some other guidelines below.) Feel free to submit multiple photos
* Enter your information HERE if you'd like a finisher's badge next week
And that's it! Any photos that use the #RunChat5k hashtag may be used across our social media pages or emails. We'd love it if you tagged @therunchat and used the #RunChat tag too, but #RunChat5k is the tag we'll be monitoring to retweet throughout the weekend.
PLEASE NOTE:
* We ask that you practice all updated guidelines by the CDC and WHO.
* Please also follow any additional local, state and federal guidelines, or other guidelines in your country if not in the U.S. Do NOT run in parks that may be closed.
* Do not organize large group runs for this. This is now a solo-only event unless you are running with someone who lives with you.
